Album Review: Thirteen Stars – Finest Ramshackle Jam (Rock People Records)

UK southern rock group Thirteen Stars’ forthcoming album ‘Finest Ramshackle Jam’ will be released on June 19th 2020 via Rock People Records.

Hoss Thompson (Vocals/Guitar) gives some detail:

The album as a whole was in some ways a reaction to’ The White Raven’ (the band’s previous studio album). Whilst we like that record, we felt that it lacked some variety and we wanted to create a more esoteric album. One that encapsulated all the different inspirations we have and that shows the variety of songwriting that we create. Our favourite bands wrote and recorded over a vast array of genres and styles and we felt that made the albums more interesting to listen to. The album title came from a friend of ours who once described our rehearsals as a Ramshackle jam.

Southern rock and the UK…it’s not a combination that really makes sense or is something that you see much of. However, that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t happen and in the case of Thirteen Stars’ Finest Ramshackle Jam we can be glad it has.

15 tracks (it’s a long one) of groovy, dusty and Southern-inspired rock. What we have here is an album to be enjoyed in the sun with your favourite alcoholic beverage surrounded by friends and family. It’s a guaranteed foot-tapper and will get heads nodding regardless of taste.

Sometimes creating a party atmosphere (I’m Ready, Give it Good, Mint Jelly). Sometimes making for a more reflective, sweet and thought-provoking listen (Sweet Lies, Be There in the Morning, Keep Calm and Carry On). Mostly though, Thirteen Stars deliver catchy and memorable Southern-rock tunes.

Easy to enjoy.
