Album Review: The Nearly Deads – We Are the Nearly Deads (Self Released)

Nashville, Tennessee, alternative rock four-piece The Nearly Deads have released their new album ‘We Are the Nearly Deads’.

With anthems aplenty, The Nearly Deads get the energy flowing nicely with the animated opener that is Suffocating. A thoroughly enjoyable start to an album that promises to have as much heart and soul as it does groove and vigour.

The enjoyment levels are kept high as Maybe brings some danceable energy to the party, The Nearly Deads continuing to prove that this is an album to rave to the grave with. Whereas Supernatural adds some poppy melody and has another kickass chorus, Wonderland is a foot-tapping rock delight, and Believer is a heartfelt and more relaxed offering.

The first half of the album shows exactly why this band has built up a strong and loyal fanbase. They’re accessible, fun, have feeling, and plenty of talent. A crossover rock band if ever there was one.

No further proof needed then The Nearly Deads getting fiery with Home and groovy as hell with Redemption. Listen to the lyrics though, The Nearly Deads are certainly not lifeless in that department and the vocals are impressively commanding.

Relentless is an apt title as it finds The Nearly Deads incredibly focused on delivering a big singalong. Instrumentally more intense, with a stunning melodic tone-switch, and delivering one of their best choruses. It’s one of the best tracks on the album. Although there’s nothing wrong with the following Wild, the most melodic track on the album, but one that really lets the vocals shine.

Finally, to wrap up this very enjoyable album, it’s Faith. One last rollicking and robust banger to move the body to. The Nearly Deads’ profile is only going to increase when more and more people hear this record.
