Album Review: The Faim – Talk Talk (BMG)

Australian rock band The Faim will release their sophomore album ‘Talk Talk’ on July 8th, 2022 via BMG. An album that has themes surrounding nostalgia, celebration, escapism, and self-discovery.

A catchy start with madly, badly, fixed and The Faim are off and rolling on this high-powered, eclectic, and memorable modern rock album. In an instant, with a clamour of melody and mellow rock rhythm, The Faim set the bar extremely high.

That’s no problem for the four-piece though as The Hills sees the band deliver a passionate foot-tapper with a huge sounding chorus. Before the smile-inducing patter of You (and my Addiction) and the uber-catchy pop-infused oddity that is The Alchemist ensures any doubters of the popularity of The Faim shut up. Sure, it might not be for you musically, but it’s crystal clear that this is music with wide-ranging appeal.

Still unsure about the quality? Press play on Life in a Cinema and lose yourself to the stupendously catchiness. Press play on the cinematically-tinged and powerfully sung Faith in Me or the animated excitement that comes from Ease My Mind. Really enjoyable, really interesting and really memorable rock music.

That there is one of the biggest takeaways of Talk Talk. It’s an album that is brimming with bright and varied life. The Faim have put a lot of effort into making this something special and have lived up to the heady expectations of their fanbase.

A fanbase that is going to eat up the likes of Me Because of You as it is so downright danceable. A fanbase that is going to move with purpose upon hearing the uplifting chorus of Flowers and the pensive smile that the mellow rhythm of Jealous Love puts on the face. It really is delightful sounding stuff.

Talk Talk then closes out with one last heartfelt and passionate effort in the form of ERA. A grand finish that shows just how good The Faim are at sounding larger than life while keeping the melodies front and centre. One hell of a sweet finish.
