Album Review: The Bleeding – Monokrator (Redefining Darkness Records)
London born Death Thrash champions The Bleeding are returning in full force to bring you their third full-length album ‘Monokrator’. Out on June 9th, 2023 via Redefining Darkness Records.
Full force are good words to describe the manic mayhem that The Bleeding unleash with this new record. Combining the best, and most intense aspects of death and thrash, in a tight eight-track release. The speed is unreal from the very start with Chemical Lobotomy and Chainsaw Deathcult. Two tracks that feature eye-watering energy, dirty tempo-shifts, gurn-inducing chuggy riffs, scathing vocals, and screaming guitar solos.
Speaking of chuggy riffs though, Mutation Chamber has some of the album’s best. The Bleeding switching up the agitated tempo for something more measured, but still exceptionally chaotic. Whereas Union of Horror is a thrashing blast of glorious noise, Screams of Torment is an apt name as the vocals are particularly grim here, and On Wings of Tribulation will deliver neck-ache through the head-banging it encourages.
The Bleeding aren’t messing around here and their focus on frenzied ferocity pays off. The album is still hot as hell as it reaches its latter stages. The final tracks, two more monumental discharges of disgust and destruction. First, the title track with its blistering instrumentation garishly displayed for all head-bangers to revel in. Second, Throes of Repulsion, a track that has The Bleeding going faster and playing heavier than before. An insane closing track to a punchy and forceful thrash/death blast.
