Album Review: The Amsterdam Red Light District – Trapped (Blood Blast Distribution)
Highly-rated French melodic hardcore quartet The Amsterdam Red Light District (TARLD) are proud to present their new record, Trapped, released 6th May via Blood Blast Distribution.
The rise of The Amsterdam Red Light District continues and on this album’s showing, it seems as though nothing is going to stand in their way. Trapped is one 2022’s most anthemic blasts of melodic and hardcore metal, a blazing showcase of heartfelt and meaningful heaviness.
Threatened Generation (Feat. Yukina From Hanabie) is a hell of a start. The hefty instrumentation, blistering speed and throat-shredding vocals combining to make something really memorable. The chorus is one for the crowd.
Keeping things nicely intense, Good Intentions (Feat. Drew York From Stray from The Path) and Not the Only One bring just as much energy but layer in intriguing complexities and a touch more melody. A sure sign that you’re never really going to be able to predict exactly what The Amsterdam Red Light District have planned next.
It’s time for some really meaty riffs and yet another chorus that soars with the excellent Happy Ending. Followed then by Born to Be Great (Feat. Mat Bastard from Skip the Use), another slice of anthemic quality. Before Not so Innocent and Freedom Is a Movement prove that The Amsterdam Red Light District are on a creative tear here.
Getting bored? Not a chance! It’s time for something that jumps between barely contain aggression and smooth melody with the title track. All with their undeniable groove and energy infused bounciness. Then Fair Weather Friends brings spiting and snarling ferocity, a defiant chant-along section and even a killer guitar solo. Before the album closes out with No Place Like Home, one last powerful and impactful listen. The cherry on the top of the delicious cake The Amsterdam Red Light District have served up here.
If you weren’t aware of who The Amsterdam Red Light District were before this release, you will soon enough.
