Album Review: Storm Orchestra – Get Better (Mascot Records)
Parisian alt-rockers Storm Orchestra will release their brand-new album ‘Get Better,’ on April 11th, 2025, via Mascot Records. The album touches on societal issues, relationships, and the inner struggles that we all have, along with the dark side of your personality.

Clearly in a very inspired and creative place when it came to writing this album, Storm Orchestra (Maxime Goudard – vocals/guitar, Adrien Richard – bass, and Loïc Fouquet – drums) have crafted a hefty record filled with accessible dance floor filling alt-anthems, passionate rock head bangers, thought-provoking melody-driven listens, and so much more here. It’s not hyperbole to call this album the sound of a band fully finding what makes them distinct.
Something that results in a run of infectious listens beginning with the energised banger Bright Soul, where the first of many fab choruses is on display. Followed by the ultra-fun grungy Drummer, a track that explores the clichés of rock drummers, portrayed as savage, party-going, unstoppable beings. Before Chunk! No, Captain Chunk! feature on the pop-punky greatness of Crush the Mirrors. Although the savage end of this track makes it more genre-bending then many others on the album.
The first quarter of this album is solid gold, and somehow, it just gets better as it goes on. Storm Orchestra are on fire but having a ton of fun with the groovy and danceable Superplayer. Here you can hear that accessibility that guarantees them a wider and varied set of listeners. It’s sits comfortably alongside Cut Loose, Somehow, and Désolé. The latter of which features the immense talents of JJ Wilde, whose vocal power alone is head turning, but when added to Storm Orchestra’s commanding performance, it results in something so special. One of the prettiest tracks heard all year so far.
We Will Be the Last, Tear Myself Down, This Game, the second half of the record brings hit after hit. Each immensely likable, each with their own memorable moments, and each an epic showcase of Storm Orchestra’s developed musical palette that makes the whole record more than just another alternative rock album.
Even when they’re offering up something so unremarkable as Get Back in Time. Yes, this is a lull, but it’s a brief one as with Our Victory, the band reach a heart-warming high and deliver one of the album’s most anthemic efforts of all. The keyboards add so much to this track, and it’s one that will be getting repeat plays throughout the year. It’s a huge track that could easily work as a finale, except Storm Orchestra have one more in them, and it’s a short punk-infused blast of frenetic mania called Trash the Room. A very cool way to wrap such an excellent record.
It’s a brilliant release, it’s as simple as that. Varied throughout, accessible, and with enough unique parts to stand out.
