Album Review: Stabbing – Extirpated Mortal Process (Comatose Music)
Texan killing machine Stabbing are back with their debut full length album. Extirpated Mortal Process. Out on December 9th, 2022, via Comatose Music.
A violent expulsion of brutal death metal, if you’re new to Stabbing (as many will be seeing as this is their debut full-length), be prepared for something egregiously heavy. Which might sound par for the course when it comes to this genre of metal but Stabbing takes it that little bit further. This twelve-track album begins in virulently aggressive fashion and doesn’t let up for even a second.
Fast, furious, and savage. The ruthlessness that Stabbing showcase is mightily impressive. Especially as the no frills assault has layers that help stop the mind being turned into complete mush. A more than likely result when you hear just how consistently crass the entire record is.
It’s preaching to the choir as Stabbing have already made an impression within the BDM scene and fans of unadulterated savagery will find this insanely appealing. Yet, it’s not just a repeat of every other BDM band as Stabbing have an immense amount of talent. From guitars that deliver bloody cut after bloody cut. To percussion that pulverises bones into dust. To vocals that spit up equal amounts of blood and bile. The four-piece are extremely talented, and they somehow turn this frenzy of metal into something impressively listenable.
Brutal death metal albums don’t often appear in the higher echelons of ‘the best of the year’ album lists but Stabbing have come screaming out of the dark to deliver life-stealing wounds. Extirpated Mortal Process is one of the strongest releases within this genre to come out this year. That there, should be more than enough to tempt you to experience the violence yourself.
