Album Review: Solitary Sabred – By Fire & Brimstone (No Remorse Records)
No Remorse Records proudly presents the third album of Epic Power Metal titans Solitary Sabred from Cyprus! By Fire & Brimstone continues the legacy of the previous highly acclaimed album Redemption through Force.
It will be released on March 13th 2020.
As metal as loincloths, swords and dragons…Solitary Sabred call to the chest beating, power-hungry and fantasy-loving fan inside us all. Beginning with the high gear Servants of the Elder Gods, the guitar solo akin to a deity that desires to be worshipped.
The groovy riffs of Assassins of Carthage surprise but it is the defiant vocals and pointed percussion that keep it more grounded. Before Disillusions gets really deep, dark and thought-provoking and Invoking the Master goes all out to get a fiery pit of deathless figures head-banging as hard as possible. All worthy stuff but nothing to get super-excited about.
That does change with The Scarlet Citadel (Chronicles of the Barbarian King Pt. I) and Fyres of Koth (Chronicles of the Barbarian King Pt. II) though. The former is a ripping and roaring power metal epic that showcases the grandness of the guitars and the range of the vocals. The latter is an equally as powerful effort kept short and much sharper.
Energy up and really flying on wings of steel and fire, Psionic Transmogrification, the short interlude of IX and Blestem ensure the album stays up high and never comes down.
