Album Review: Six Foot Six – End Of All (Scarlet Records)
The sophomore effort, End of It All from Swedish heavy metal band, Six Foot Six will be released on December 11th, 2020 via Scarlet Records.
Kicking off in a gleefully fun and very catchy way, Welcome to Your Nightmare is a hot start. The riffs instantly taking hold before the clean and powerful vocals drip through the mind like warm syrup. An immediate banger of a track.
…but we’re just getting started!
The title track has a thumping foot-tapper of a beat, In God We Trust is a classic slice of old-school riffing pie, In the Eyes of the World races along with manic energy (the guitar solo in this one is fabulous) and Blood Will Out’s lower tempo is lusciously dark and twisted sounding. Each track offers something slightly different while being unquestionably grin-inducing.
It’s an ode to heavy metal but happily, not dated sounding. Instead Six Foot Six are dragging the sound kicking and screaming into the now. All while getting heads banging, horns thrown up and high fives dished out. Music like this is all about positive vibes, the sheer energy of what comes with Last Days of Our Lives, the melodic group shout-along that is Finale Vittoria and the racing rhythmic riffing and shredding of Abducted.
A sure sign of quality is when, regardless of length, it ever feels like it’s dragging and you find yourself eagerly awaiting what comes next. That’s this album, as the chugginess of I Am Your King reigns supreme, Edge of the World’s ballad-style singalong will make you walk a little taller, Oblivion is an out and out head-banger and Break the Wheel closes out a banger of an album with a groovy chorus driven effort.
It’s a true heavy metal blast from beginning to end.
