Album Review: Sinheresy – Event Horizon (Scarlet Records)

Event Horizon is the brand-new and fourth album from the renewed Italian melodic modern metal band, SinHeresy. It will be released on August 25th, 2023, via Scarlet Records.

Boom! SinHeresy are back and back with a bloody big bang. Delivering an absolute stunner of a melodic metal record. Where every single track sets the mind aflame with excitement, filling the veins with adrenaline, and encouraging an excessive amount of head-banging.

Exploding out of the starting gates with frenzied epic that is The Calling, SinHeresy get the body moving as though it is in spasm. The vocal switches, big chorus, and thumping drumbeats adding the epic stance.

Black Spirit follows this and sees SinHeresy get a bit experimental with melodies, while once again, delivering robust head-banging metal groove. Then along comes The Life You Left Behind to set the bar extremely high, thanks to an immense chorus and some killer vocals that soar. By contrast, Castaways pales but that doesn’t mean it’s a track that is found lacking by any stretch. Here, SinHeresy lean right into their melo-metal sound, with ripping riffs and chunky drums to excite the senses.

A thoroughly enjoyable first half then ends with the powerful melodies of Brighter Days. Only for SinHeresy to start the second half off with another massive bang. (R)evolution being a crashing and smashing head-banger with some really aggressive vocal bursts. Before Forbidden Desire offers up massive melodies and epic heaviness.

All this excellence leads to the exciting final portion, SinHeresy taking the title track and dividing it into three parts. First, Gravity, which is a super-ambient introduction. Then, Entropy, which is an energetic blast of modern melodic metal with a very cool chorus. Followed by Singularity, a moving melodious outro, a nice and easy way to end the album.

A very strong release from a band that consistently puts out strong releases.
