Gawd damn, talk about starting off your new album with a bang. SETYØURSAILS set the bar very high, not just because Bad Blood is a frenzied anthemic banger, but because it features vocalist Adrian Estrella of Zebrahead on it. If you love metalcore that slams, then you’re in for a treat here. The contrast between the uber-catchy chorus and savage breakdown is incredible.

Take a deep breath though, SETYØURSAILS are only getting started, and the metalcore world is their’s for the taking as they continue to hit hard with Best of Me and T.F.M.F. Both offering up vigorous blasts of vital sounding metal with tons of heart and soul. Then along comes Halo to prove unequivocally that they know how to write breakdowns that will make you grind your teeth.

As good as the breakdowns are though, it’s the overall infectiousness of each track that means the most. SETYØURSAILS have written anthemic track after anthemic track, with choruses that get jammed in the brain matter. How about Lately? A track that shows more vocal vulnerability, but still has so much heavy power and intensity behind it. It’s one of the ‘lighter’ tracks, but that’s not to take away from the SETYØURSAILS passion that comes through strongly on it.

Especially as there are still so many bangers to come. First, with the following Dangerous, which has a rockier style with its riffs and chorus. Then with Bad Company’s moody ambience and layers of synth, and In My Head’s brilliant bursts of ferocity and singalong chorus. Guess what? This track also has a breakdown that will break bones.

It really is a great album, and another example of how the cream rises to the top. This statement confirmed by the final two tracks, Heart Attack and Eternally. The former, as anthemic as anything that came before it, and the latter, a heart-racing and heavy slice of brilliance.

Oversaturated or not, when metalcore is done this well, you have to shout about it. SETYØURSAILS have blown so many out of the water with this release.
