Album Review: Sanhedrin – A Funeral for the World (Cruz Del Sur Music)
Sanhedrin are one of the most exciting new bands to emerge from the Brooklyn music scene. Originally self-released, A Funeral for the World has been picked up by Cruz Del Sur Music and will be released in a beautiful packaging with embossed cover artwork on the 27th April 2018.
Mixing American style heavy metal with elements of the NWOBHM days, Sanhedrin deliver hook-laden tunes, riffs that will last all day, classic vocals and even a guitar solo or two. It’s the latter element that lifts Riding on the Dawn before the Sabbath-style goth tone of the title track leaves a deep impression.
There’s a decent amount of variety throughout A Funeral for the World but the highlights are often the lower-tempo tunes such as Collateral Damage and No Religion. Nice melody, punchy bass and sultry vocals make for a memorable set of songs.
