Album Review: Polar – Everywhere, Everything (Arising Empire)

After years of musical and personal growth behind the scenes, Polar will release their new album ‘Everywhere, Everything’ on the 13th of January 2023 via Arising Empire.

A product of the past few years, in that Polar were forced off the road and into isolation like so many others. Everywhere, Everything isn’t a ‘pandemic’ album though, even if the frustrations and fears of the past few years are a component of its overall makeup. It isn’t about looking backward; it’s about looking forward.

Polar have moved forward, both personally and professionally, and the result of all this growth is this new album. A ten-track post-hardcore hit that features a lot of relatable emotion, honesty, and credibility.

There’s a lot of passion coming from Polar. Starting with the moving melodic power of opener Winds of Change and reaching an early crescendo with the hellacious intensity of Burn. The two tracks flowing wonderfully into one another and showcases the best of both Polar’s worlds; namely the melodic side and hardcore side.

It just gets better and better from this point with the anthemic Gods and Heathens, the post-heavy title track, the absolute crunch of noise that is The Greatest Sin, and the explosive, off-kilter rhythm of Rush, where shared vocals and an immense chorus gets jammed right in the brain.

It’s impressive music from Polar and proof that the downtime they were forced to have has only benefitted their song-writing abilities. Although it’s always thrilling too, when they just cut lose and deliver something with straight-forward modern hardcore intensity as they do on the blood-boiling Dissolve Me.

The rest of the album doesn’t see the quality drop either. As Polar blend the punchy groove of their heavier sound with excitable electronica rhythms on Deliverance. Then hit another high with the monumental Snakes of Eden. A track that builds and builds in impressive style. The riffs are serrated here, but the throat-tearing vocals are what most will remember here.

Before things come to a close with a more balanced and heartfelt effort in the form of Baptism of Fire. Polar wrapping things up with a bit of an epic. An absolute barn-burner that confirms this as one hell of a release. Polar are back and have set a high bar for 2023 with Everywhere, Everything.
