Album Review: Perdition Sect – End Times (Seeing Red Records)

Pandemic, social oppression, police brutality, civil unrest, political chaos…this is the world in which we currently live. Perdition Sect is an observation and reflection of our times in 2020. This album was written and recorded all during quarantine with the sole focus on creating the most blistering Discharge-worship D-Beat imaginable from 4 extreme metal stalwarts commenting on the day to day chaos during these uncertain times.

Made up of Kyle Severn (Incantation / Shed the Skin), Aaron Dallison (Keelhaul / Brain Tentacles / Axioma), Matt Sorg (Ringworm / Shed the Skin) and Mike Lare (Ringworm). This 100% Ohio troupe of extreme metal veterans are here to show you just what type of Hell we live in.

End Times will be released on December 11th, 2020 via Seeing Red Records.

If there is one positive to take from the shitshow that has been 2020’s decimation of the live music scene, it is that many bands have found themselves with the time to create music that they may never have done. Time off the road, no gigs to play and a constant flurry of internet bullshit has inspired a ton of bands to craft something new.

That’s the case with the foursome that make up Perdition Sect, who have put together a class extreme metal release that puts a number of subjects on blast. Little is safe from the scathing brutality; our political overlords, destruction of the planet, social media, the justice system, police brutality and more. All through the medium of hyper-active and hard-hitting extreme metal.

Bucking and kicking, End Times has a ton of aggression to its raging torrent of guitars, drums and dual vocal performance. However, it’s focused aggression, fixated on the world at large but also ensuring that those looking for something with real bite to it will come away satisfied. The foursome are a fearsome bunch when put together in this fashion and that it is meaningful content is just the icing on the cake.
