Album Review: Occulsed – Parturition of Adulteration (Everlasting Spew Records)
After their last year debut ‘Crepitation of Phlegethon’, Occulsed are back, having compiled a new record called ‘Parturition Of Adulteration’ that features both their demos, remastered and a brand new song! It will be released on December 23rd, 2022.
The unholiest of unholy death metal. Occulsed is the foul and obnoxious stench that emanates from the broken crust on a pit of death and decay. Powerful enough to make you wretch, your head will swim as it takes hold, threatening to send you tumbling into the sickening mulch where you’re likely to drown within the horror.
Yes, Occulsed’s new album is that damn nasty. An uncompromising and unforgiving blast of raw and nerve-shredding death metal. No nonsense, utterly uncouth, barely listenable and beyond savage. It’s both incredibly off-putting and stupidly delightful.
You must have a taste for the extreme and even then, you have to want to wallow in the filthiest of filth to fully enjoy this album.
It takes a hell of a lot of talent to make such an immense amount of horrifyingly heavy noise and the members of Occulsed have been in this scene for some time. It shows too, as for all the album’s rawness, the instrumental and vocal power is ever present. What it lacks in ‘frills’, it makes up for in sheer ferociousness and unmitigated grossness. Hell, it’s somewhat fascinating to hear a band go this hard in such an uncompromising fashion.
Nine tracks of atrocious death metal. Sounds like fun, right? It’s also well worth noting that the quality between the demo tracks (even when remastered) and the new track is very obvious. Suggesting that Occulsed’s rampant heaviness will be much neater going forward.
