Album Review: Nekrokraft – Witches Funeral (The Sign Records)
On the 19th of January 2018 via The Sign Records, Nekrokraft will release a collection of earlier demos alongside two previously unreleased tracks on their new album Witches Funeral.
Combining a raw, brutal and untamed sound with blackened melodies. The album is ten tracks of thrashing black metal that contains eight original songs and covers of Slayer ‘Angel of Death’ and Bathory’s ‘Satan my Master’.
Angst: “We often refer to these demos as the forgotten times of Nekrokraft, since we have a hard time remembering the recording session at all. We were wasted and gave in to our fleshly desires…”
There’s a savage sound to Nekrokraft’s Witches Funeral, one that delivers a bitter chill as Burning Ov & Cometh Arrives slaughter all. A solid cover of the classic Bathory track, Satan My Master keeps things suitably dark & twisted before Upon a Throne attempts to pound your mind into a fine paste.
The raw & crude sound of the album is excellently appealing & any rough moments are easy to overlook because most of the tracks are early demos. Nekrokraft’s style is so brash & spiteful that the likes of the title track, The Void & Return of the Kvlt slay in their black metal melodic ugliness.
The last part of the album sees Nekrokraft throwing out a pretty great cover of Slayer’s Angel of Death. This is followed by two previously unreleased tracks, an absolute treat for fans. Which sums up the album as a whole. An absolute treat.
