Album Review: Necrokinesis – A Force Made Flesh (Self Released)
A one-man death and thrash metal band, A Force Made Flesh is the second Necrokinesis album from multi-instrumentalist and vocalist, Adrian Foley. It will be released on August 5th, 2023.
A manic thrash and death release out of Ireland, solo artist Adrian Foley certainly brings the noise with his new album. Called A Force Made Flesh, it features eight straight-forward, energetic, and intense blasts of old and new school death and thrash. Something that might seem par for the course, until you hear just what Necrokinesis has to offer here.
Which just so happens to be a bevy of flaying riffs, crunching drums, and garish, guttural vocals. Kind of in the vein of Carcass through the eras. From the moment the frenzy begins with A Poisoned Mind to the moment it ends in bloodshed with the title track, Necrokinesis doesn’t stop going for the throat.
Take tracks like The God You Kneel Too, Skin Them Alive, or The Hellbound Heart as examples. Each feels distinctly different, but also focus on the core idea that everything should be blistering and brutish. Not only do they make you feel that little bit nastier for listening to them, they will give you serious neckache as each is a head-banger through and through. Although that applies to every single track, not just these ones.
It’s mightily impressive that this is all the work of one individual and it really does speak volumes about the talent of Adrian Foley, that it remains so engaging. Especially as there is very little give when it comes to rigid thrashing speed and deathy heaviness.
