Album Review: Necrochamber – Ceremonies of the Dead (Self Released)
Necrochamber, born of blistered soil and hate for mankind within the foul wastelands of San Diego, California, the crags of which emerged in 1998. Heaving and thrusting forth to transform into a vessel in which an atmosphere of revulsion dwells. These vicious black metal rites of hatred and violence emanate with blasting chaotic drumming, evil guitar melodies and horrific vocals.
Evil will be unleashed in the year 2019 A.D. All shall relinquish blood, flesh, evil and death to herald ‘Ceremonies of the Dead’.
Black metal of the darkest order, Necrochamber play the sounds of hell through a modern and highly appealing filter to produce a top shelf album. One filled with the heaviest and most deliciously evil of rites.
From the opening double header that take no prisoners with a slamming black metal riff assault to the aptly titled Fleshripper and the final double header that drips in evil intent. 10 tracks of furious and ferocious black metal that doesn’t so much call you to the dark side but demand you drag your pathetic self over.
On the one hand, Necrochamber eschew tradition in favour of a more rhythmic and listenable sound but on the other, they also know how to let loose and call upon the ghosts of the past. The pure intensity of the drums and vocals often lead this, making their statements on the likes of Necrochamber and A Ceremony for the Dead.
Simply put, no matter if you like the new or old school of black metal, Necrochamber will be for you. Their clawed hands grasp and pull all down to the depths where suffering is infinite.
