Album Review: Nasty Surgeons – Infectious Stench (Xtreem Music)
Spanish Death-Grinders Nasty Surgeons present their sophomore album entitled Infectious Stench which will be released on July 5th 2018. It will appeal to fans of old Carcass, Necrony, Exhumed, The County Medical Examiners and General Surgery.
You know exactly what you’re getting with a death-grind band and Nasty Surgeons aren’t pulling out any surprises on Infectious Stench. 11 tracks of rowdy and beastly heaviness played at an intensely quick pace. Simply put, if you’re not a fan of grind then this album isn’t going to change that even if it is pretty good.
Smell the Carcass sets the scene perfectly especially with the spoken word ‘police-report’ that plays in between the devastating savageness.
It’s followed up by track after track of feral sounding metal. The title track’s screeching guitar solos working to unhinge the mind, Subdural Haematoma’s vocals reaching deeper levels of guttural and Forensic Necrophilia’s smashing of instruments.
Unlike a lot of death-grind records, Nasty Surgeons does lean more towards the death metal sound with longer, more varied and more complex tracks. It’s a pretty satisfying listen if all you’re looking to do is head-bang and lose your shit too uncompromising heaviness.
Infectious Stench certainly delivers that as Mouth to Anus, Infernal Bacterial Infection and Dr. Death closes the album out.
