Album Review: + MROME + – Leech Ghetto (Self Released)
Polish extreme metal band, + MROME + are back with a brand new album called Leech Ghetto due out on the 11th October 2019.
Founded way back in 1995, the death/black metal project came back to life in 2009 after almost a decade of silence. Playing a rhythmic style of metal experimentation that is not bound by any particular sub-genre, + MROME + got off to a great start with their debut, Noetic Collision on the Roof of Hell. Read our review here.
Let’s climb aboard the + MROME + train again, it’s off, rolling and picking up speed quickly. The first indication being the rocking metal groove of The Rogue. Heavy riffing, energetic drums and bass, we have here something that sits comfortably on the thrash side of things. It really delivers on the promise of heavy though.
They say they like to experiment and that is realised the more Leech Ghetto goes on. Born Old has extra bite in its deathier vocals and riffs, the thrash returns for the full-force attack of Anti-Ant Entante and The City of Opax crushes with a great blend of moody melody and inane savagery.
There’s plenty of fire and ferocity to + MROME + on this album but none of it is wasted energy. They clearly know exactly what they’re doing and where they’re heading as they spit out riff heavy and darkly moody tracks like Coffin Nail, Detroit Daze and Twarz niezawisła. The latter is one of the band’s more experimental tracks. With off-kilter stops/starts, spoken-word style vocals and sudden flashes of dirty groove.
Bellies Grow is a more straight-forward, sharp guitars dominate at first before the bass and drums take over with a rhythmic beat. Before Primordial Soup ends another hefty effort from + MROME + with a bang. A slow build of a bang; the thrum of bass and soft guitar melody lulls leaving you unprepared for the dirty attack that comes forth.
