Album Review: Megadeth – Killing Is My Business… And Business Is Good: The Final Kill (Century Media Records)
This year is the 35th anniversary of Megadeth and to celebrate that momentous milestone, the band are re-releasing one of their most important albums, Killing Is My Business… And Business Is Good. The re-issue is going under the name of Killing Is My Business… And Business Is Good: The Final Kill and is being seen as the definitive version of the album.
The new version includes previously unheard parts throughout the disc, including a missing drum performance that was discovered during the mixing sessions.
As well as the remastered and remixed original album, it comes with seven live audio tracks accessed from VHS tapes that Mustaine discovered in his attic. The set also includes Megadeth’s 1984 three song demo and their previously removed cover of These Boots.
Killing Is My Business… And Business Is Good: The Final Kill will be released on June 8th 2018 via Century Media Records.
What more can we add to an album that can rightfully considered one of the best metal albums ever? If you’re a fan of this genre you will know this album or least a handful songs such as the title track.
An incredible trash album, this was Megadeth at their strongest and this remaster does it justice with a much cleaner and clearer sound. The 8 tracks that make up the actual album would be more then enough for fans to enjoy but an extra 10 is just the icing on the cake. The live tracks, Last Rites/Loved to Deth, Killing is My Business…and Business is Good, The Skull Beneath the Skin, Rattlehead, Chosen Ones, Looking Down the Cross and Mechanix are suitably rough but capture that early Megadeth live fiery sound perfectly.
While the 3 demo tracks; Last Rites/Loved to Deth, The Skill Beneath the Skin and Mechanix are a welcome addition that offer a different and early approach to tracks fans will know so well.
This is an album worth picking up even if you know the tracks off by heart. It can rightfully be called the definitive edition of the Killing Is My Business… And Business Is Good. 35 years…let us hope Megadeth are far from done.
