Album Review: Mano De Mono – Chameleon Tongue (Electric Valley Records)
Electric Valley Records presents Mano De Mono’s debut album, Chameleon Tongue, due out on the 15th of April 2022 on different versions of vinyl and digital formats.
A hodgepodge and electrifying blend of stoner, desert rock, grunge and 90’s alt-rock/metal, Mano De Mano look to the world of down-tempos to deliver an album of infectious heavy hitters.
A little but dusty, a little bit grimy, a little bit groovy and a hell of a lot of sing-alongs, Mano De Mano’s Chameleon Tongue may not have the word ‘accessibility’ plastered over it but it’s there. Thanks, in part, to the nostalgic alternative rock vibes that shake up the grungier and stoner-infused elements.
A constant vibrancy and full feeling make each track as memorable as the last but often, it’s the tone shifts that really stand out. When Mano De Mano stop the groovy rock and wander aimlessly into the desert, sewer or underground punk sweat box. Exhilarating and electrifying moments that make the music so much more captivating.
There isn’t a bad track on the album but there are highlights and those come in the form of Lying Bones, a track that has a phenomenal melodic shift. Strenght Flow, a track that has such cooling stoner vibes and the punky fire of Ruins. Just three personal favourites on an album that is packed with kick-ass rhythms throughout.
