Album Review: Lucifer’s Child – The Order (Agonia Records)

Returning after three years away, Greek blackened death metal band Lucifer’s Child have released their second album, The Order. A super-group of sorts, the band features Rotting Christ guitarist George Emmanuel, Nightfall bassist Stathis Ridis, Chaostar and Descending drummer Nick Vell, and Karma Violens vocalist Marios Dupont.

Order 2

Eight tracks of bitter, twisted hate wrapped up in a familiar blackened sound, The Order is a brutal listen. No quarter is given, there is no time for relief as Viva Morte assaults the senses with a level of ferocity that beggars belief.

It’s might addictive listening though and for all its uncompromising heaviness, it’s an incredibly listenable album.

The likes of the title track, Fall of the Rebel Angels and El Drago-Un have such a fiery level of rhythmic guitars that it sets the soul aflame.

Lucifer’s Child are a powerhouse in creating a sound that is filled with raging metal riffing, blackened-covered vocals and percussion that erupts like sores. Bang your head as hard as possible; this is some of the heaviest music you will hear this year.

By time Haraya and Siste Farvel are done with you, your ears will be ringing but you’ll consider it a sacrifice well made.
