Album Review: Lie In Ruins – Floating In Timeless Streams (Dark Descent Records)
From Finland comes death… Lie in Ruins will unleash their most intense release to date with “Floating in Timeless Streams”. Out on November 20th 2020 via Dark Descent Records.
A frenzy of instruments is what greets the listener when they first hit play on Floating in Timeless Streams. Lie in Ruins going from 0 to 11 in a split second and spitting out utter venomous death metal that causes nothing but chaos.
Chaos is what this band deals in but don’t be surprised to hear some flair here and there. For all their frantic speed, Lie in Ruins are more than capable of delivering the riffs and throwing out some killer hooks and solos. Although it is easy to get distracted by the remorseless assault of percussion and the scarring guttural vocals.
Take the blows, Lie in Ruins are dishing out here because in return you’re getting a scathing slice of head-banging gold. Although it does sometimes begin to blend into one another through the sheer ferociousness, the aforementioned moments of flair are quick to snap things back into focus.
The 40+ minutes runtime flies by in a blur of red-hot metal, darkened rhythms and aggressive statements. What more could you ask for from Finnish death metal?
