Album Review: Liar Thief Bandit – Deadlights (The Sign Records)

The Sign Records presents “Deadlights” – the third full-length of Sweden’s Liar Thief Bandit, featuring 12 tracks of modern-sounding and forward-thinking Scandinavian garage rock.

Deadlights is out on May 14th 2021.

Let the good times roll, Liar Thief Bandit are here to rock.

Kicking off with some groovy ass riffs, the title track gets the foot tapping and the head bopping along straight away. Good time garage rock, slightly raw and slightly fuzzed to create the ambience of a late night dive bar show.

Nice and energetic, Brand New Day and Good Enough keeps the riffs at the forefront but it would be a crime to not mention the other instruments. The bass and drums adding a meatier edge to the rhythm and the vocals, clean and clear, showcasing a constant sing-along spirit.

More chorus drive, Catch and Release has the band take their foot of the gas slightly but still delivering tons of groove. Whereas ‘Cept the Truth, Limitations and Feather are all about straight-forward rock and roll fun with the passion behind them to make them extra bouncy. The crooning backing in the vocals are particularly delightful.

Don’t expect any massive shifts in sound and you won’t be disappointed. Rather, embrace the fun that is this album. Get up, get moving and get rocking as I’ve Got a Lot of Money Comin’ In, Forever the Optimist, Silver Tongue and Right From Wrong provide the juice needed.

Wrapping up at the perfect time, before it overstays its welcome. Hindsight is one last punchy and punkish tune that would get a bar full of people rocking out.
