Album Review: Krypts – Cadaver Circulation (Dark Descent Records)

Finland’s Krypts return to unfurl an aeonic slab of death metal upon your ears. Cadaver Circulation explores immeasurable depths with six intense offerings of misanthropic and doom-laden death metal. It is out on the 31st May via Dark Descent Records.

Krypts 2

Grabbing us by the throat and dragging us down to the darkest and most twisted depths doom-infused death metal can do. Krypts are all too happy to show us such evil before kicking us into the suffocating darkness. Alone and unable to see, the only thing to hear is the sound of Cadaver Circulation and the six tracks that pour scorn and hate into the mind.

Sinking Transient Waters is the bludgeoning that cracks skulls while The Reek of Loss is the swirling and disorientation of being completely and utterly without hope. The first two tracks seeing Krypts lay down some of the heaviest and most intense extreme metal you’ll hear all year.

Echoes Emanate Forms and Mycelium take us down to even lower levels, the thump of guitars and percussion one thing but the horror-infused vocals another. This is doom at its most uncomfortable and the sudden injections of death metal pace does little alleviate the sinking feeling of depression.

It’s more of the same with Vanishing, no bad thing before Circling the Between looks to put the lost and miserable souls to rest. A brutal listen.
