Album Review: Krang – Singalong (Bird Attack Records/Melodic Punk Style)
Krang, a skate-punk band from Czech Republic released their new album Singalong on the 21st January 2018 on Bird Attack Records (US) and Melodic Punk Style (EU).
Krang’s short album is filled with a skater ethos, upbeat rock riffs & a punky disposition. As much about pop-punk drive as it is anything else, Krang keep things super-short with no track going over 2:20.
11 tracks & just about 19 minutes long. It’s about delivering catchy, energetic songs as proven by Life is Like a Mortal Kombat and King of a Dancefloor. The latter in particular showcases the melodic rock power that Krang exude.
Their influences are clear especially on really short punk-infused tracks like No Fun in Fundamentalism. The highlights do come on the tracks that see Krang expand & work harder at delivering a layered track.
Zombie Should be Slow is brilliantly hook-laden & catchy, I Ain’t Got Time to Bleed has a killer chorus, Better Dead Than Brown or Red is bowel-shakingly rhythmic and then their is the brilliantly titled & best track on the album, Kick Ass or Chew Bubble Gum.
The more Singalong goes on the more you notice that your foot is tapping away to the tune. Krang will leave an impression, one that deepens on multiple plays.
