Album Review: Infinita Symphonia – Liberation (My Kingdom Music)
Liberation signals the great return to the scene of one of the best realities of the Italian progressive power metal scene. Infinita Symphonia are back and along with various special guests such as Blaze Bayley, Ralf Sheepers and Alessandro Conti among others, Liberation promises to be their best work yet. The new album will be released on December 7th 2018 via My Kingdom Music.
With an apt title, Hope’s melody fills you up with lightness. It’s an intro that soars through the clouds on a warm Autumn evening and sets up what follows really well. It’s The Time Has Come that brings the power though. Power metal that throws in some really chunky riffs and punchy drums, in particular in the chorus.
Varying tempos add a little bit of the progressive to it but it’s on Never Forget that features Ralf Scheepers of Primal Fear adding his trademark growl on vocals that really perks things up. The repeating beat fits the duel vocals performance perfectly. It’s a banger, that you can be assured of.
Ralf Scheepers isn’t the only guest to feature on this record either. We get the legendary Blaze Bayley adding his powerful tones to A Silent Hero and Alessandro Conti on to Be Wise or Be Fool. The former is a slow moody melody driven number that fits with Bayley’s current own output (December Wind) while the latter is all about power and is all the better for it.
Elsewhere Coma and How Do You Feel? hammer home that Infinita Symphonia can write amazing choruses that really excite. As well as deliver melodic reflective tunes. Although A New One does fall flat by being a bit boring up until the minute when things get really heavy!
Don’t Fall Asleep Again drops the best guitar solo of the album and Q & A is a powerful progressive instrumental finish. One that welds some real weight behind the riffs.
