Album Review: Imperial Execration – Commanding Satan’s Crusades (Comatose Music)
The barbaric horde that is Imperial Execration will unleash their debut album ‘Commanding Satan’s Crusades’, on December 9th, 2022, via Comatose Music.
Featuring six tracks and one cover, Imperial Execration’s debut album might be short, but it leaves an impression. One of revulsion and horror, but an impression none the less. After all, it’s no-nonsense brutal death metal and unsavoury savagery is all that is needed.
Good thing Imperial Execration’s debut record, Commanding Satan’s Crusades fits the bill. The six tracks on show, offer up plenty of belly-quivering, muscle-tightening, and head-aching noise. There’s nothing complex here. Imperial Execration aren’t looking to change the world, rather, they’d prefer to drown it in putrid sludge.
The gag reflex will inevitably kick in as Imperial Execration pour the bile on. Yet, it’s such a short and compressed record, there’s no long-term sickness caused by the experience of feeding on their brutal death metal. Even the cover choice, Dehumanized’s Condemned, has more than enough manic fury and mulched up brutality to leave you feeling queasy.
As brutal as it gets. Imperial Execration have seen the bar set by many other bands this year and decided to spit acidic horror all over it.
