Album Review: HCG – Burger ‘Em All (Death Prank Records)

Burger ‘Em All is the new album from Brazilian thrash/crossover hardcore/noise band, HCG. Out now via Death Prank Records.

This whole album, all seven tracks combined, comes in at a whopping six minutes and thirty-four seconds. If that doesn’t tell you everything you need to know about HCG and their style of thrash noise, nothing will. An uncouth, raw, and uncomfortable sounding style of heavy music that really doesn’t have much in the way of class.

Its DIY production is notable from the start and there’s little in the way of structure throughout. It’s seven tracks of ugly sounding noise, with varying levels of quality portrayed throughout.

Though, there is something so refreshing about a band not giving a single f**k and just delivering swathes of abrasive and ill-mannered music. Music that sits somewhere in between noticeable thrash, punk-infused hardcore, and absurd noise elements. If you’ve got a little under seven minutes spare, give it a go. It can’t be called ‘good’ by conventional standards but it can certainly be called interesting.
