Album Review: Gruzja – I Iść Dalej (Godz Ov War Productions)
From Godz Ov War Productions comes Polish black metal band, Gruzja. Striking with its nihilistic black metal for the 21st century. I Iść Dalej will be released on CD on February 27th 2019.
Harsh, unwavering and uncaring black metal is the name of the game with I Iść Dalej. An album built on evil and horrifying heaviness. Shouted vocals, hyper-intensity from the guitars and a deep, troubling drum style. The 7 tracks that make up this album are a lesson in depravity.
From the the moment Gruzini emerges from the basement to show its ugly face to the ballsy catchiness of Opuść mnie and wild fury of Jego głos, this is an album that delivers an experience few will forget anytime soon.
Keeping things short and to the point works heavily in Gruzja’s favour. Ilu nas było? is one of only two tracks to go over 5 minutes. The eerie effects and spoken word vocals are really spectacular though ensuring that as we reach the fuzzy end of Iść dalej everyone will be left feeling very satisfied if not a bit dirty.
Even the final track goes in a direction few will expect. Heavy on the synth effects with a crushing level of bass, it’s not a million miles away from what we’ve heard already but it is…different.
Excusing the final track, what we have here is a intriguing and exciting black metal release.
