Album Review: Grimentity – DSM​-​5. The new chapter (Self Released)

Featuring members of Relics Of Humanity/Ominous Scriptures, Grimentity is a Belarusian band that plays death metal/grindcore in the vein of Misery Index, Pig Destroyer, Dying Fetus, and Lock Up. They released their debut full-length album ‘DSM 5. the new chapter’ earlier this year.

Filth. Utter filth. Welcome to the world of Grimentity. A raw and rough ruckus that has zero class when it comes to death and grinding heaviness. DSM 5. the new chapter features 11 short tracks of what can be best summarised as ferocious bile. Which, if you know anything about us, is way more appealing than it should be.

It’s a non-stop blast of intensity that makes the frantic and furious blasts of grindcore sit comfortably with a scathing death sound. They always make good bedfellows, and Grimentity are a capable bunch. Where a sadistic approach makes the eyes water and the ears bleed.

With the short and sharp attacks they deliver, there’s no getting tired of this level of savagery. Especially as Grimentity do showcase some variety in how they deliver their blows. This helps keep things feeling fresh even if the entirety of the album can be summed up as extreme metal for fans of extreme metal, nothing more and nothing less.
