Album Review: Goath – II-Opposition (Ván Records)
Ván Records will release the sophomore full-length of German Black-Deathers, Goath on the 16th March 2018. The band’s debut album ‘Luciferian Goath Ritual’ was released in early 2017 and now their back with ‘II-Opposition’.
Nine tracks of blackness delivered at a death metal pace, II-Opposition is a viscous album but one with a high level of rhythm. Something that doesn’t always come easy to black metal. It makes for a satisfying listen as Revenge snarls & spits, Born of Fornication blazes with black metal fury and Opposition aims to bring about the end times.
Goath have certainly brought hellish sounds to the surface & the longer the album goes on, the more it drags you under. The high points are the more rhythmic & structured tracks. Purity of the Unseen in particular slays like a rampaging serial killer on Halloween night, Enraged and Possessed’s title is perfectly descriptive and Luciferian Divine howls like a blood-thirsty beast.
All in all, II-Opposition is a satisfyingly aggressive & hate filled black-fuelled death metal record. It’s not going to set the metal world alight but it will please those with darkness in their heart.
