Album Review: Farsoth – Morbid Symphonies (Black Lion Records)
Swedish death metal band, Farsoth, will release their brand-new album ‘Morbid Symphonies’ on October 27th, 2023, via Black Lion Records.
The simplicity of Farsoth’s death metal sound is extremely lovable, even if it is ugly as sin. Morbid Symphonies features ten tracks of unbridled aggression, undeniable savagery, and uncompromising destructiveness. Nothing more, and nothing less. It’s ten tracks of brash head-banging and beer-chugging noise, and who doesn’t love a bit of that every now and then?
Of course, none of this would mean much if Farsoth weren’t bloody good at dishing out memorable punishment, and on that front, they excel. This album takes a heavy toll on the psyche, but it’s near impossible to not give over everything to Farsoth. Especially when they hit with the force of Hate as an opener and then follow that up with manic, thrashing mayhem of Nothingness and Infernal Bondage. A trio of tracks liable to give any listener some serious whiplash.
It doesn’t stop there though, and Farsoth continue to make death metal sound even more chaotic with Morbid Symphony. Yet, the appealing prospect of this noise is indisputable. Hence why a continuation as severe as one that includes Bound to Death, Afterlife, Provoke Me, and Your Death leaves stupid big smiles on faces. Take f**king that, naysayers of extreme music.
By time the penultimate track, Rotten Flesh Stew spews its horribleness out, everyone still listening will be feeling concussed. Just in time to be left lying with World Beyond, a finale of gargantuan proportions that hits as hard as everything else so far. Farsoth have well and truly delivered on this release.
