Album Review: Fall Flavored – 180 (Self Released)
Released on February 15th 2018, 180 is the debut album from Fall Flavored. An alternative rock/pop-rock/punk rock band from Lille, France. They came to life in 2014 and were reborn in 2017 with a new line-up.
Lively & fun groove is what Fall Flavoured deliver with force throughout 180. Pop-rock vocals mixed with impressive guitar medleys and riffs sees Epic & Colegram and Mountain of Rage excite and thrill.
After the up-tempo start Nonsense goes for a more harmonious style showing off an outstanding range within the vocals. It’s not wildly different thanks to the occasional shots of pace but importantly, shows off a wider array of talents within Fall Flavored.
It can be very difficult to leave any kind of impression with alternative rock/pop-punk but Fall Flavored do a good job of it. Their brand of rock isn’t the freshest but they can certainly hold their heads up high as tracks like Runaway, Can’t be Beaten and Stuck in Life provide noteworthy hooks & catchy choruses.
Praise has to be given to the guitar work throughout 180, it’s sharp & the driving force behind most of the rhythm. Helped by a crystal clear production, the deeper you go with 180, the better it sounds.
As the final bouncy beat of Jump plays out you’ll be all too aware that your foot has been tapping along throughout & you’ll be hitting the restart button just to make sure you didn’t imagine it.
