Album Review: Emil Bulls – Love Will Fix It (Arising Empire)

Ground-breaking and vibrant alternative heavy metal band Emil Bulls are back with their brand-new album, ‘Love Will Fix It’, out on January 12th, 2024, via Arising Empire. The album is a manifesto of healing and unity, echoing the transformative power of love and music.

Not just an album of catharsis, but an album of hope and reconciliation, told through the power of a shared love of anthemic heavy music. This is the mantra of this album and a stance showcased with spirited believability by Emil Bulls. Every single person will have at least one of these tracks stuck in their head long after the album ends.

An early contender for this is the chorus-driven sing-along that is Backstabbers, Emil Bulls delivering heavy groove in their exceptional alternative way. Yet, it can’t touch the following The Devil Made Me Do It, which is simply excellent. The kind of a track that you play at a party and get everyone up and moving.

Not a bad bloody start, but Emil Bulls have so much more to offer. Credit where credit is due, they have packed out this album with anthems. Before you know it, you’re eight tracks deep and loving every second of it. Be it the bullish riffs and spitting vocals of Happy Birthday You Are Dead to Me, the danceable energy of Levitate, the stupidly catchy Whirlwind of Doom, or the massive singalong that is The Ghosts That Have You Called.

Remember what was said about getting at least one track stuck in your head for ages after? Don’t be surprised if it comes from this section of the album, but also don’t be surprised if it turns out to be the upbeat alt-anthem that is the title track.

The more time spent in the company of this album, the more it becomes clear that Emil Bulls were on the creative form of their life here. Where not a single track can be called filler. As the end looms large, the likes of Sick, She Ain’t Coming Home No More, Dreams and Debris, and Oceans of Grief continue to ooze passion and energy.

Rarely does a 47-minute and 12-track album feel too short, but that is very much the case here. Emil Bulls closing it out with a stunning example of modern alternative rock in the form of Together. The melody soars, the vocals are so powerful, and the lyrics are just freaking lovely. For the album to wrap up with such a positive message is simply perfect.

This is a great album and will be getting repeat plays all year long.
