Album Review: Decrapted – Bloody Rivers of Death (Xtreem Music)
Decrapted is a sideband formed by Vicente Payá (Unbounded Terror, Golgotha, Bis·Nte) on guitar & bass and Dave Rotten (Avulsed, Holycide, Christ Denied) on vocals which was born during spring 2021. The debut album of Decrapted is entitled ‘Bloody Rivers of Death’ and will see the light on the 5th of April 2022 both on CD, 12” LP, Cassette & Digital formats through Xtreem Music.
Decrapted play horrible death metal. The stuff nightmares are made of. Unleashing a bevy of horrors across eight filthy and guttural slabs of frenzied devastation. A touch of the old-school death about them, an injection of darkness and a mindset built on disgust and dismay, ensures this is an album that will get even the blackest of hearts beating merrily.
From the raging cesspit of bile that is Bleeding Devourment (the vocals are insane), to the eye-watering depths Decrapted take us to on Headless Haunting, to the intense guitar soloing of Meat Truck and everything in between. The no-nonsense attitude Decrapted have to death metal is welcome but thanks to their individual talents, it doesn’t sound like a re-thread of old ideas.
That being said, it is death metal and you know what you’re getting with an album that promises a sickening, sticky and vomit-inducing level of heaviness. Decrapted deliver that and smartly, don’t overstay their welcome. It doesn’t have much in the way of staying power but while it is on, head-banging is ensured.
