Album Review: Creeping Flesh – …And Then the Bombs Came (Emanzipation Productions)

Swedish prodigal death metal sons Creeping Flesh will release their sophomore album “…And Then the Bombs Came” on February 11th, 2022 via Emanzipation Productions.

There’s never anything wrong with a band that promises and delivers an album packed full of old-school death metal sounds. That’s what Creeping Flesh do, taking inspiration from the likes of Bolt Thrower, Asphyx, Hypocrisy and Grave and turning their attentions on the most savage of battlefields of WWII.

The result is an album that is no ‘repeat’ or ‘copycat’ idea but is comfortably death metal for all those who enjoy the sound of the extreme.

Bone crunching riffs, skull-crushing drums, lung busting vocals… Creeping Flesh are hitting hard here. The sound of disdainful vehemence given a much darker and meaner taste as though it is covered in mud from the trenches.

There are 9 tracks of this nastiness to enjoy and enjoy most will. Creeping Flesh belong amongst the names that have helped craft this distinct sound. A sound that is familiar but also notable for having its own Creeping Flesh stench. Pungent might be the word that comes to mind, if you can manage to think straight in between the bouts of head-banging the album induces.

It’s not about setting the world alight as …And Then the Bombs Came doesn’t do that. What it does do though is fan the flames and add more fuel to ensure the death metal inferno continues to burn as brightly as it always does.
