Album Review: Creeping Death – Boundless Domain (MNRK Heavy)

Texas death metal outfit Creeping Death return with their long-awaited full-length, Boundless Domain, set for release on June 16th, 2023, via MNRK Heavy.

How could anyone ever get sick of death metal when it comes from band as strong as this? Creeping Death are back and sounding as fetid as ever. From the moment the title track erupts like a landmine under your feet, the grim possibilities of this record feel endless. It’s a manic and monstrous start that takes you on a twisted journey of screaming riffs, mind-bending solos, brutal percussion, and diabolical vocals.

Fear not! It is just the start and there is so much more heavy to come. Heavy that includes the legendary Corpsegrinder, guesting on the visceral horror of Intestinal Wrap. Heavy that will leave ringing in your ears from the meaty sound of Vitrified Earth, and heavy that creates shooting pains in the neck from the amount of head-banging caused by the speeding instruments of The Parthian Shot.

In case you weren’t aware based off these tracks, Creeping Death are f**king back.

Their penchant for adding some groove to their death metal intensity is wonderfully displayed on Creators Turned into Prey. Before they showcase more of those blistering guitar solos with Cursed, and just how much mayhem they can create when a track like Remnants of The Old Gods drops on a live crowd. Death metal doesn’t get more brutal than this.

Confirming Boundless Domain as their best work to date, Creeping Death smash and crash their way through three more slabs of guttural heaviness to leave everyone feeling mightily satisfied here. Looming, The Common Breed, and The Edge of Existence might not make any changes to the formula heard so far but that hardly matters. It’s more quality gurn-inducing heaviness to lose your s**t too. What more could we ask for?
