Album Review: Corrosive Sweden – Blood and Panic (BMP Records)

Corrosive Sweden hail from Hudiksvall, Sweden and have just released their third full length album entitled “Blood and Panic”. The first one to be released through the Swedish label BMP Records.

Corrosive Sweden 2

High energy, balls out groove metal, Corrosive Sweden kick off a hell of an album with the kind of force that makes the title of the record all the more apt. Sharp and scummy sounding guitar riffing and a pretty hulking catchy chorus. A bounce along that lays the marker down for exciting rhythm.

Blending clean singing with growling verses then throwing in hyper heavy rock and metal elements, the title track is another energetic banger. It’s kind of funny that the following Speed is slower with dirty guitars laying the groundwork for the repeated line of ‘speed’ elongated to give it the impression of a hot rod zooming down a highway, kicking up dust in its wake.

Staying focused, Corrosive Sweden continue to blast away with their brand of energetic and catchy metal numbers with Angry Me, although that track has a little more mellowness about it, and Angel or Beast. Which is just a thumping metal good time track. The kick of the drums are brilliant here.

Listening to Blood and Panic, you can see the influences from the American style of metal as it follows a much more familiar formula that could be seen as a negative if it wasn’t such a good record.

The only real drop off comes from Terrified As I Die, a track that doesn’t feel as substantial as everything else. Although the aggressive chorus is pretty good.

It’s more riffing like beasts for Parasite, the most in your face track on the album before At the Top pushes the groove up to another level and Black Paint ends things in meaty style. The drum/guitar combo begging for a defiant fist in the air. It really does end very strongly.
