Album Review: Corpsessed – Skeletal Grotesquery (Krucyator Productions)
Krucyator Productions presents Skeletal Grotesquery, the upcoming live album by Finland’s death metal group Corpsessed. The album is scheduled for release on CD and digital formats on the 29th of May, 2023.
We do enjoy a fair bit of the guttural, horror-laden, and grim sound of Corpsessed’s death metal sound, so hearing that in the rawer world of live music, is very exciting. It’s also nice to see more underground and heavier bands releasing live albums.
There’s a lot to enjoy here, but nothing more so than the fact it is the undistllled sound of Corpsessed live. A vicious and bloody experience, not just for those who have been in the room with this band, but those who subject their ears to the music.
Skeletal Grotesquery is a live recording from Corpsessed’s performance at Braincrusher in Hell Festival in Hirschaid, Germany, on the 25th of November 2022. A performance that, based off the noise emanating from the recording, must have created some real carnage in the venue. This album features nine tracks taken from their formidable discography, and can be viewed as a current ‘best of’ too.
It’s nine of the nastiest sounding Corpsessed tracks, and, like all good live recordings, the demonic sounds of the hungry crowd who are loving every second of this massacre, is part of the recording. Both the crowd and Corpsessed are part of pulsating and putrid death metal showcase. It’s a recording that makes you want to be part of it.
