Album Review: Coffin Rot – A Monument to the Dead (Rotted Life/Blood Harvest Records)
Rotted Life, in conspiracy with Blood Harvest Records, presents the highly anticipated debut album of Portland, Oregon’s Coffin Rot, A Monument to the Dead, on CD, vinyl LP, formats and cassette.
Formed in 2017, Coffin Rot quickly set to work on their first demo, following it a year later with another one as well as a split with comrades Molder. Wasting no time, now comes their full-length debut, A Monument to the Dead, displaying their swift mastery of the metal of death.
Completed by dank ‘n’ disgusting artwork courtesy of Skadvaldur, Coffin Rot deliver a monument to the dead – are you among those doomed souls?
It will be released on the 18th October 2019.
As deathy as the deathiest of death metal releases already heard this year. Coffin Rot’s A Monument to the Dead looks to topple the leaders of the best death metal release this year from their perch.
They don’t do this by breaking convention or by doing anything drastically different. No, instead the 8 tracks of this monstrosity snarls and roars with undiluted powerful aggression. It rains fiery destruction down upon all unfortunate to be caught in its storm.
There won’t be much left of anyone who decides to go for a wander with this as the soundtrack. Metal barbarity, as it wraps around it gets tighter and tighter, digging into the flesh, drawing blood and squeezing the life out of you.
As the light fades away, the distant roars of Coffin Rot fades. Freedom? Not for your soul as A Monument to the Dead is also the soundtrack of hell.
