Album Review: Bokassa – Molotov Rocktail (Napalm Records)

After recently signing with Napalm Records, Norwegian power trio Bokassa are fully charged up and ready to set everything ablaze on their upcoming album, entitled Molotov Rocktail, out September 3, 2021 via Napalm Records.

A hell of a lot of fun but also capable of putting on a showcase of heavy stoner rock and punk spirit, Bokassa are living up to the moniker of “Lars Ulrich new favourite band”. Molotov Rocktail is an album bursting at the seams with dynamic and feel good energy.

It’s an album that makes you jump for joy… in between bouts of heavy head-banging and body grooving. The likes of So Long Idiots!, Pitchforks R Us and Godless are just so animated and entertaining.

If you’re not screaming “loose lips sink ships” at the top of your voice after listening to the latter of that trio, you weren’t paying enough attention.

Whereas the likes of Low (And Behold), the title track and Burn it All (P.T.S.D.E.A.D) have groovy fire and punchy heaviness to really get the feet stomping along.

There isn’t a track on this album that can’t be called anything but anthemic. Bokassa know how to lift spirits while delivering something that sounds exactly like them. Which might sound silly, after all – who else would they sound like? It’s just nice to hear the band develop without losing what makes them such an enjoyable listen.
