The debut album, All These Monsters, from gothic gloomsters, The Black Capes was released on June 9th 2017 via Dark Tunes.

Black Capes Pic 1

The debut album from The Black Capes, All These Monsters absolutely drips atmosphere. It’s an album all about delivering a spooky & unsettling hard-rock sound but wrapped up in rhythmic beats & hooks. This is the successor to the likes of Type O Negative & Sisters of Mercy.

Within the first 10 minutes the band have delivered on all fronts with the sultry sound of Sarah the Witch & the chugging groove melody of Wolf Child. Both excellent songs that really mark The Black Capes out as something different, something worth spending 35 minutes with.

Purple Heart & Now Rises’s faster & rockier beats add a little more excitement to the album. The deep, throbbing vocal moments against the higher more ‘standard’ rock choruses stand out as a particular highlight of the songs & the album as a whole.

Devilish drum beats & soft melodies combine to make one of the more memorable albums to be released this year. It’s a very exciting record especially when it does something unexpected (such as the fantastic guitar solo on Now Rise).

The latter half of the album doesn’t deviate from the swagger & sound heard so far. Hardly a bad thing though as the groovy rhythm really captures the imagination & the blending of gothic melody with hard rock riffs makes songs like We Will Never Die stand out.

An excellent, exciting & imaginative album comes to a close with the up-tempo hard rocking beat of All These Monsters. It’s a fast & dirty sounding track that caps off a fantastic listening experience.
