Album Review: Bitterness – Dead World Order (G.U.C.)
G.U.C. proudly presents the seventh full-length album of Southern German old school Thrashers Bitterness! Out on May 15th 2020.
Formed back in 2001, Bitterness have always confirmed their reputation as a damn heavy live act, with more than 300 shows at home and abroad under their belt. The band’s typical sound contains classic Thrash attacks combined with gloomy Death Metal parts as well as elements of Gothenburg-style Melo-Death.
Don’t let the 44 second intro of The Last Sunshine fool you, this is a fast and heavy album from the opening metal salvo of A Bullet A Day to the inspiring head-banging finale of Darkest Times. One that is rooted in thrash for the most part.
Get the neck muscles warmed up, it’s time for a good old fashioned head-bang with plenty of encouragement from Bitterness. Encouragement that comes in the form of hefty guitar riffing, dense percussion, biting vocals and a mix of tempos.
The title track’s lower tempo, drawn out and crushing, showcases variety even if the final minute or so is out and out speed. Whereas the likes of Let God Sort ‘Em Out, Forward into the Past and None More Black keep things shortish and to the point, Blood Feud has Bitterness stretch themselves.
A low and dark melody leads to a meaty set of riffs and thumping set of drums. Slowly expanded on with a long and drawn out middle before erupting for a frantic finish.
