Album Review: Belphegor – Necrodaemon Terrorsathan (Nuclear Blast)

Diabolical blackened death metal band, Belphegor will re-release their 2000’s album “Necrodaemon Terrorsathan” on November 6th 2020. Twenty years after its first appearance, the third studio album of the European black death metal force comes to new life as remastered version via Nuclear Blast.

With a filthy breath of air, Belphegor breathe fresh life into their spell-blinding third album, Necrodaemon Terrorsathan. An album that has reached the grand old age of 20 years and still sounds as important for the extreme scene as it did back then.

However, while the majority of the album is just a remastering, the title track takes pride of place as it has been re-recorded. It’s that track that you’re going to want to hear, Belphegor sounding as ferocious as ever.

Elsewhere, this remastered album delves deep into nuances that were once less clear. It’s been cleaned up brilliantly and the blasphemy of Belphegor’s sound is as necessary as it ever was.

Filthy from beginning to end, the grimy bleakness of this album is familiar, as it should be but it doesn’t sound out of place in the modern scene. It has enough extra detail highlighted through the remastering to make it necessary listening and if, by chance, you’ve not experienced this album before, there is no better version to hear now.

With the previous album ‘Totenritual’ released in 2017 and a new record not due until 2021, this remastered offering will help tide hungry fans over until they can sink their teeth into fresh flesh.
