Album Review: Backyard Babies – Silver and Gold (Century Media Records)
Legendary Swedish rockers Backyard Babies are back! More than three years after their last studio album “Four By Four”, Nicke, Dregen, Johan and Peder are about to celebrate their upcoming 30th anniversary in style with a brand new record entitled “Sliver and Gold”.
The album will be release on March 1st 2019 via Century Media Records.
Ten tracks of sleaze-infused, party rock and anthemic rock and roll songs. Age is not slowing down Backyard Babies in the slightest as they kick off with the groovy rhythm of Good Morning Midnight. The rock and roll pace wrapping itself around the mind, body and soul demanding you move along with it.
Simple Being Sold and Shovin’ Rocks then ups the party feel of Silver and Gold. The latter in particularly is super catchy and easily going to be a live favourite going forward. There is no arguing that Backyard Babies know exactly what to do to get the body moving and shaking. Bad Seeds and 44 Undead are a pair of tracks that are easily the catchiest of the album. Hard rocking riffs, sleazy sounding vocals and a drive to get the dance floor moving.
At the same time, they also know how to touch upon more emotional melodic moments too with Yes to All No and Laugh Now Cry Later. The latter is the last track on the album and a fine way to end a good release, soft and sad but with hope.
