Album Review: Avi Rosenfeld & Tasos Lazaris – Very Classic Very Metal (Self Released)
The sound of metal. The power and glory, The classic and nostalgic …alongside a team of musicians, who all share a love of metal, prolific artist Avi Rosenfeld joined forces with Tasos Lazaris to create Very Classic Very Metal.
It’s been a while since we checked in on Avi Rosenfeld and what do we find him doing? Paying tribute to the glory of days of heavy metal. Think bands and artists such as Dio, Iron Maiden, Rainbow, Deep Purple, Uriah Heep, Judas Priest and much more. Then you’re on the right track with what we have here.
Glorious and simple, there’s no deeper meaning behind these songs. They are all about throwing your horns in the air and head-banging your way back to a less genre-busting time. When heavy metal was all that was needed, and you didn’t need to analysis it any more than asking the question of if it was good heavy metal or not.
So… is it good heavy metal? Absolutely it is. Avi has proven himself to be a talented artist with his many releases over the years and this one is another to add to the list. This time though, he’s joined by Tasos Lazaris on vocals who delivers a masterclass in high-powered screeches and wails.
Across the ten tracks, a number of guest musicians add their talents to instruments such as the drums, bass, keyboards and guitar. Making this much more of a collaborate effort than we’re used to from Avi Rosenfeld. It has paid off though as the complete album is refined and very detailed.
The word is fun. They’re having fun and so will you.
