Album Review: Heavy Trip – Heavy Trip (Burning World Records)
Power trio Heavy Trip will finally see their critically acclaimed self-titled debut album release on CD, courtesy of Burning World Records. It will be available on April 2nd 2021.
Delivering psychedelia of the highest order, Heavy Trip is an apt title. Not just for the band but the album overall. This is a trip but one with weight, like having a cement block attached to the ankle while you sink into a deep, watery chasm. As the oxygen departs the lungs, a myriad of wild and intense sights spin wildly across the vision. You forget you are drowning and just find peace within the whacked out psych trip that is this album.
Does their smothering sound appeal? It should and for all its choking fumes, it’s still an exciting slice of heavy weight rock. The varying tempos, slow and methodical but capable of frantic bursts of energy when needed. These moments are akin to the struggle one might feel during lucid moments slipping deeper into the depths.
Hopefully this CD release will mean even more people find and experience the mind-fuck that is Heavy Trip. It’s a very unforgettable listen even if sinking into it is so life-stealing.
