Album Review: Bonecarver – Evil (Unique Leader)
Bonecarver come from the dark, dirty, post-apocalyptic underground brutal death metal / slam scene in Madrid. The originators of Spanish modern death metal are set to release their new album ‘Evil’ on March 5th 2021 via Unique Leader.
Crawling from the filth-ridden underground, Bonecarver are on the lookout for fresh victims. Victims spread far and wide and willing to be taken in by their penchant for destructive slamming death metal. If this low-brow, heavy ferociousness played without much in the way of care appeals to you, you might find you’re far from alone. It’s hard not be wowed by the absolute chaos these beasts cause.
Tracks like Revolver, The Scythe, Wormhole, Moon Maniac and Hound Pound are glorious examples of the mayhem Bonecarver can cause. From their bloodying riffs and bone-snapping hooks. To their vocals that range from throaty demonic roars to the squeals of a dying pig. To the skull fracturing drums and skin peeling bass lines, everything feels like pain. However, it’s two sides of a coin. With pain comes pleasure and Bonecarver deliver a ton of both.
This is 10 tracks and around 37 minutes of the personification of death, destruction, violence, horror, gore, hate, fury, disgust and more. There’s going to be a ton of new victims for Bonecarver to drag back into their filthy hovel. Or maybe this will be enough to ensure they can stay above ground to continue spreading their grime to a much larger crowd. On the basis of this album alone, you can’t say they haven’t earned it.
